On the eastern side, Tweed describes Marlbank as situated between Lime Lake, White Lake, and Dry Lake, amid farmland and forest. Its community information identifies fishing, four-wheeling, and baseball, and notes summer residents and summer homes. This is local background, not evidence of a particular home’s setting, amenities, water access, or suitability for an activity.
Hastings County presents Tweed as a four-season destination with outdoor recreation, arts and culture, and seasonal events. Those resources can inform modest guest guidance, but activities and schedules can change. A listing should describe only verified property features, access, parking, safety information, and house guidance, while guests confirm current public conditions and opening details.
Waterfront context deserves care. Quinte Conservation advises that shoreline development can affect water quality, shoreline health, and wildlife. On the Greater Napanee side, Cataraqui Conservation identifies projects in or near lakes, wetlands, floodplains, banks, and shorelines for permit screening. These are diligence considerations, not findings that a Lime Lake parcel is regulated or that a use is allowed.
Local rules
Before advertising or changing use, identify the property by civic address, legal description, tax roll, or survey. The shores are governed by different municipalities, so “Lime Lake” or a nearby community name cannot substitute for a parcel-level check. Eligibility remains unresolved until the applicable municipality reviews current zoning, amendments, dwelling configuration, proposed guest use, parking, servicing or septic capacity, and relevant overlays or approvals.
For the Tweed side, the Municipality directs owners to use Hastings County GIS with an address or roll number, select the Tweed zoning layer, and consult Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. 2012-30. It warns that posted 2012 maps do not reflect amendments and directs people needing clarification to submit a zoning inquiry. Official material reviewed did not establish a Tweed-specific STR registration or licence. That does not make a whole-home rental permitted: bed-and-breakfast and tourist-establishment definitions are not blanket approval. Written zoning confirmation is prudent.
For the Greater Napanee side, the Town defines an STA as all or part of a dwelling rented for compensation for 30 days or less and says it does not currently require an STA-specific licence. Other municipal by-laws may apply, and structural changes or a substantial change in primary use may need planning or building approval. Zoning information and zoning/building compliance processes remain relevant. The Town’s 5% Municipal Accommodation Tax applies to non-exempt accommodation of 30 continuous days or less. It is a collection and remittance obligation, not zoning approval.
Review the Municipality of Tweed’s zoning and planning guidanceWhat we handle
After an owner is pursuing the applicable confirmations, an operating scope can be considered around the home’s condition, guest information, service needs, and the owner’s preferred role. The goal is a workable routine rather than assumptions drawn from the lake.
A practical plan connects property information, responsibilities, and the home’s condition.
Co-hosting explained
Co-hosting lets an owner retain chosen decisions while a management partner supports agreed work. The scope may include listing administration, guest communication, arrival guidance, turnover coordination, property checks, maintenance follow-up, and reporting. Responsibilities should be clear before guests rely on the arrangement.
For a Lime Lake inquiry, municipal and environmental diligence belongs alongside hospitality planning. First identify the governing municipality, obtain written zoning or compliance guidance, and consider separate conservation, building, health, water, septic, fire-safety, or tax obligations. Then the operating plan can focus on accurate guest information, readiness between stays, and service contacts suited to the home.

The homes below are portfolio references in Harcourt, Gooderham, and Trent Lakes. Captions retain each recorded town and listing name; they do not establish another property’s jurisdiction, permitted use, readiness, or eligibility.
Local questions
It depends on the exact parcel. The east half of Lime Lake is in former Hungerford Township, now the Municipality of Tweed, while the west end is in former Richmond Township, now the Town of Greater Napanee. Use a civic address, legal description, tax roll, or survey to identify the governing municipality; do not rely on the lake name alone.
The official Tweed sources reviewed did not establish a current short-term-rental-specific registration, licence, or dedicated vacation-rental by-law. That does not determine whether a specific rental use is permitted. Tweed directs owners to its zoning process and a zoning inquiry for clarification, particularly because the posted 2012 zoning maps do not reflect all amendments.
Greater Napanee says it does not currently require an STA-specific licence for its definition of short-term accommodation, which covers all or part of a dwelling rented for compensation for 30 days or less. The Town also says other by-laws apply, and planning or building approval may be needed for structural changes or a substantial change in primary use. Confirm the exact property’s status with the Town.
Greater Napanee’s Municipal Accommodation Tax by-law applies a 5% tax to non-exempt accommodation of 30 continuous days or less. The by-law includes lodging in all or part of a dwelling unit and identifies hosts and online platforms within its provider definition. It is separate from zoning or operating approval; confirm collection, remittance, exemptions, and current process with the Town.
Owner inquiry
Tell us about the Lime Lake property, its exact location, current setup, and the operating support you are considering. A productive first conversation begins with verified property information and the owner’s goals, while recognizing that the lake crosses municipal and county boundaries. Zoning, amendments, proposed use, parking, servicing or septic capacity, conservation screening, building or health requirements, and applicable tax obligations need confirmation with the appropriate authority for the actual parcel. From there, we can identify what is ready for coordination, what needs further verification, and whether a collaborative operating scope fits the home.
